9th June 2013 - Cycle, run, eat BBQ food!

Great weather and a great weeks training, it really felt like summer this week and it really does make a difference.  It was nice to enjoy cycling in the sunshine and I just feel so much more motivated and energised by the sun.  The week was also not only packed with training but also spent a great weekend enjoying the outdoors with the kids, playing in boats, swimming, playing on climbing frames and eating lots of BBQ food!

Monday: Cycled up to Micheldever in the morning, then home from Winchester.  Then in the evening I cycled to the gym for a relatively relaxed swim session and cycle home.  Also a chance to catch up with Paul after he smashed the Outlaw half Ironman distance triathlon and hear all about it.  Around 40 miles on the bike.

Tuesday: A tough cycle to work against a strong head wind, but fantastic sunshine.  It also made for a great ride home with a strong tail wind, feels like sumer is finally here! 70 miles on the bike.  Pretty tough few days of training and looking forward to a rest day!

Wednesday: Rest day.

Thursday: Cycle to Winch in the morning (still quite a strong head wind), give blood, then cycle all the way home (with keep iphone walkie talkie app)!

Friday: Ran to gym, again strong wind which was slightly head on and tough on tired legs but a surprisingly a really good time of around 40mins, energy gel and straight on to the tread mill for an hour.  In total half a marathon in around 1hr 40mins.  Really chuffed considering the tough few days of training, it was a hard run.  Didn't wear socks for the first time in my new trainers so feet are destroyed and legs sore, might need a couple of rest days!

Saturday: A great day with the family down at Dell Quay and also a great sneaky oppurtunity to do some sea swimming practice.

Sunday: A proper rest day up visiting my parents in the Midlands, a lovely day mainly spent grazing on BBQ food, doesn't get much better!
